A Message from the President

president

Please let me introduce myself. My name is Kathy Dusenbery and I am in my second year as your President. The first year allowed me the opportunity to meet and work with a wonderful board of women who have dedicated many hours to our chapter. I had volunteered for many years as Missouri Sponsorship chairwoman but never was able to attend a meeting. I have been blessed and very busy raising a family of three with a husband who travels for a career. The leadership lessons learned as a collegian opened the doors for me as I began a career as a public servant, first serving as an Alderman (City Council) for seven years in Parkville, four years as Mayor and now currently in the middle of my 4 year term as Platte County Commissioner. My husband Brad and I have three children, Brad Reed will graduate this next year from the University of Montana. They have a wonderful DG Chapter there and he has yet to date a Delta Gamma! My second son Chad will be attending Gnomon School of Visual Design this fall in LA. My youngest is Ann who will be starting High School this year. So as you can see we operate a very busy household. I made the commitment to serve as President not because I had time to spare, but because I was asked. I hope this year as we look to membership for future leadership positions that when asked you will say, yes. I do not regret for one moment the opportunities I have had because I said yes to Delta Gamma. I want to thank our current board for saying yes and volunteering their time.

I want to thank all of you for the opportunity to attend the Delta Gamma Fraternity 64th Biennial Convention in Denver, CO. We won two awards at this year's convention, the Region 5 award for Outstanding Philanthropy: Fundraising. Our Greater Kansas City Chapter earned this award for our success with Tables That Bloom, which is a fundraiser we should all be proud of. We also won The Five Stars to Alumnae Success Award. Our website was once again a finalist for the Web Award.

Our programs this year are constructed around building Delta Gamma friendships. We come from many different colleges and universities, but we need to remember that our main tie to each other is being a Delta Gamma. This year we all need to make a commitment to extend our hand to each Delta Gamma that attends our meetings. So get out your calendars and make plans to attend our programs this year. The board is committed to making you feel welcome as you board this Delta Gamma cruise!

ITB,

Kathy Dusenbery
