President's Convention Report & Questions for Members

Dear Sisters,

I want to thank you for the opportunity to attend the Delta Gamma Fraternity 64th Biennial Convention in Denver, CO. It was an honor to represent all of the fine women from our Greater Kansas City Chapter. During the first General Session the Fraternity Parliamentarian Wilma Wilbanks reminded all of the Alumnae and Collegiate Presidents that “We aren't the Queens of our Chapters." I couldn't agree more with that statement. The Delta Gamma Chapter of Greater Kansas City is whatever the membership desires it to be. That is why I am sending this letter out to you so that our Board can have the opportunity to hear from each of you as to what direction you would like the chapter to take. We won two awards at this year’s convention, the Region 5 Award for Outstanding Philanthropy: Fundraising and The Five Stars to Alumnae Success Award.

As fellow member Lori O'Neal reminded me, "The slate is now clean to move forward to prepare for the 65th Biennial Convention in 2012". We will need your help to prepare for this next convention. There are several important awards to prepare for: “Outstanding Alumnae Programming Award" and "Outstanding Alumnae Chapter Award". We are a strong Alumnae Chapter. We now need to set the goals to achieve and compete for these two major convention awards. We will need to all work together to achieve this mission.

The new theme for our Chapter will be "Set Sail for the Future". Please send your thoughts, ideas and opinions to my e-mail: kad@kc.rr.com.

I need your input on the following questions:

1. Program ideas?
2. Best day of the week for evening meetings?
3. Suggestions on the best ways to reach the many generations which we serve?
4. Ways to improve our work with our Collegians?
5. Ways to educate and strengthen our bond to CCVI?
6. Ways to expand our Philanthropy?

I will have more exciting news from Convention in the next week. In the meantime, I want to hear from all of you as to what YOU want and expect from your Delta Gamma Alumnae Chapter. Thank you for your time and thoughts as we begin this journey and truly set sail for our future.

Sincerely,
President (Not Queen) Kathy Dusenbery

P.S. A big thanks for everyone's hard work on Tables That Bloom! We received the Region 5 Award because all of your efforts!
