Each fall, the women of Mu chapter of Delta Gamma at the University of Missouri hold their annual philanthropy, Anchor Splash, to benefit sight related entities through the Delta Gamma Foundation. The event consists of clothing sales, serenades, a Most Beautiful Eyes fundraiser, and it all culminates with The Plunge- a synchronized swimming competition. Anchor Splash is also preceded by the Delta Gamma Foundation Lectureship on Values and Ethics. Since 1998, the lectureship has brought notable speakers to campus to discuss the University’s four values- Respect, Responsibility, Discovery, and Excellence.
Last year, fourteen fraternities participated in Anchor Splash, and we were able to bring Sean and Collins Tuohy, the real dad and daughter behind the hit movie, “The Blind Side”, to campus. Between Anchor Splash, the lectureship, and donations from the chapter, we were able to send thousands of dollars to the Delta Gamma Foundation, who works with various organizations nationwide to support aid to the blind, vision preservation, schools for the visually impaired, and guide dog trainings, etc.
Holding events like these can be costly, and the women of Mu Chapter need your help! A donation of $200 or more entitles sponsors to a complimentary Anchor Splash T-shirt. As an Anchor Splash sponsor, you will have your name printed on the back of the T-shirts, as well as on banners hung in front of Greek houses throughout Columbia. However, any donation will be appreciated. Please make all checks to the “Delta Gamma Foundation”. (Donations are fully tax deductible if made out to our Foundation.)
